You sell or lease products made of or containing textiles to offer them on the Belgian market, to sell or lease them or to use them yourself.
If you purchase these textiles in Belgium, your supplier must, as a provider of textiles on the Belgian market, have complied with the necessary legal requirements. Request evidence of this or let him/her contact Circletex regarding textile circularity.
If you purchase these textiles outside Belgium, then, in the framework of the EPR legislation, you will be regarded as a distributor or importer and must comply with the legal requirements for a distributor or importer, including regarding textile circularity.

If you have your own production facility for products containing textiles or you have products containing textiles manufactured in your name or with your brand name and you sell these goods in Belgium, you must also comply with Belgian legislation.
In other words, as a producer you are considered responsible for the environmental impact of your products throughout the entire life cycle.

Extended producer responsibility (EPR) legislation
Inter alia, this legislation means that producers, sellers or importers of textiles:
- Must bear the full cost of the life cycle of their product.
- Must meet the targets set out in the EPR for selective collection, reuse and recycling.
- That the textile products must be produced in accordance with the rules of Design for recycling (DforR) and Design for circularity (RforC).
- Must specify the volume of textiles that is put on the market in Belgium.
- Must specify the quantity of ‘end-of-life’ professional textiles which is selectively collected and how this is processed (reuse, recycling, incineration).
- Must make available the necessary financial resources to meet these targets.

If you purchase from a Belgian supplier, they must meet the circular responsibility requirements. Ask about or check this.
